U.S. Begins Maritime Blockade on Iranian Ports in Strait of Hormuz
▷ The United States has initiated a maritime blockade targeting Iranian ports and coastal areas in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil and gas flows.
▷ The U.S. Central Command (미군 중부사령부) warned that any vessel entering or leaving the blockade zone without prior approval would be subject to interception, diversion, or capture.
▷ While access to Iranian coasts is strictly restricted, vessels traveling to and from non-Iranian ports are still permitted to transit the strait, a measure also confirmed by the UKMTO (영국 해상무역기구).
