German Court Rules TCL’s QLED TV Advertisements as False, Siding with Samsung
▷ A German court has ruled that TCL’s advertising of certain products as “QLED TVs” is a violation of the Unfair Competition Act, following a lawsuit filed by Samsung Electronics (삼성전자).
▷ The court determined that the quantum dot diffusion plates used in the models did not practically improve color reproduction, making the “QLED” branding misleading to consumers’ rational judgment.
▷ This ruling is expected to influence ongoing investigations by the Korea Fair Trade Commission and class-action lawsuits regarding false QLED advertising by Chinese manufacturers in North America.
